Deputy Fire Chief

Deputy Chief Grider was hired in November, 2019.  He most recently was serving as the Volunteer Training/Coordinator with Clallam County Fire District #3 (Sequim). He spent the last 18 months in that position after retiring from the fire service in New Mexico.  Originally from La Cueva, New Mexico he started his fire career in La Cueva with Sandoval County where he literally grew up in the Fire Service. His father was the Fire Chief and mother was the community dispatcher. Deputy Chief Grider volunteered for many years, before being hired in 1997 by the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD). He continued to volunteer with La Cueva and Sandoval County Fire Department for several years after being hired by the Los Alamos Fire Department.  Deputy Chief Grider promoted through the ranks in the Los Alamos Fire Department from driver engineer, captain, battalion chief of operations, training and EMS, and he eventually retired from the Los Alamos Fire Department in 2016 as their Deputy Chief.  In 2015 he was named the State of New Mexico Fire Officer of the Year.  This is award is given to the fire officer who has emphasized leadership, dedication, integrity, professional development, service to the public and contributions to the Fire Service as a whole
